"Touching the reappointment of your Clerk, I am directed to forward to you copy of a Notification that has been issued on the subject. His Excellency is at present much engaged by the departure of the homeward bound Mail, and tomorrow he embarks on board the "Steamer Medina" for the purpose of proceeding to the Northern Consulates, but on his return he will have the opportunity of more fully stating to you his sentiments as to the necessity of all appointments within the Colony being made by him, subject to the approval of the Secretary of State.
